The very fact that you are reading this in the internet shows that you have been researching the subject-and that\’s a good thing.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacteria within the vagina. There are many reasons why this might occur and we are all very different.

Some common causes include:-

* Overwashing
* Douching

* Being \”under the weather\”

The problem is that they do not address any of the root causes, and if you suffer from recurrent episodes of BV, no amount of antibiotics or soothing creams will help long term. You may have also come across various natural remedies, such as tea tree oil and probiotics yogurt, and yes, they may well have their place, but only when used as part of an overall systematic treatment.

How To Get Rid Of Reoccurring Bacterial Vaginosis Naturally

by admin on Feb.12, 2010, under Women's Health

Many women who suffer from BV find that they suffer from this condition repeatedly; very rarely do they find that it is an isolate attack which clears up on its own. The very nature of BV means that unless you get to the root cause, you may never manage to eradicate it altogether.

If you would like to know how to get rid of reoccurring bacterial vaginosis naturally, then you are moving along the right lines, as natural solutions work far better than conventional treatments as far as BV is concerned.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance of bacteria within the vagina. It is a sure sign that harmful bacteria has overgrown and that the beneficial bacteria which normally is stronger, has been \”overpowered\”. Usually, the pH level of a healthy vagina is acidic. When BV is present, the pH level is alkaline and this is the trigger for the unpleasant symptoms which include itching and burning, together with a watery discharge which has a foul, fishy odor.

Although antibiotics are routinely given, they do have a very limited use. They will kill off harmful bacteria and give some temporary relief. Unfortunately, they are very much a one dimensional treatment and cannot address what has caused your BV in the first place. In addition, many women will need to use strategies to supplement the \”good\” bacteria within the vagina, as antibiotics will kill off both harmful and beneficial bacteria. Very often, the whole cycle will start again once antibiotics are finished as the root cause will still be there.

This is why well over half of all women who take antibiotics for reoccurring bacterial vaginosis will have a repeat flare up within a few weeks.

If you would like to know how to get rid of reoccurring bacterial vaginosis naturally, then a multifaceted approach is required which encompasses the following elements

* Killing harmful bacteria
* Providing symptomatic relief
* Rebalancing pH levels
* Eliminating the root causes
* Strengthening the immune system

By tackling each area at the same time you can ensure that BV simply cannot thrive within your body and there are a number of simple natural ways which you can tackle each one. For example, tea tree oil is very good at killing bacteria and adding a few drops to the bath can help and probiotic yogurt contains high levels of good bacteria and can supplement the vagina\’s own.

Curing Bacterial Vaginosis Symptoms Naturally

by admin on Feb.11, 2010, under Women's Health

If you think you may have BV, it is important to be sure of the diagnosis. If you are at all unsure, then a visit to the doctors might be in order. Typically, bacterial vaginosis symptoms vary very little from woman to woman. Although there may be subtle differences, generally, of you have had BV before, there will be little mistaking it when it does return!

The usual symptoms of bacterial vaginosis are:-

* A watery discharge which is gray or white in color
* A foul, fishy smelling vaginal discharge
* Itching and/or burning of the delicate vaginal tissues (not all women will experience this)

In addition, a woman will typically exhibit a pH level which is alkaline, and this can be detected by a doctor using pH strips. Also, upon an internal examination, a doctor might notice a thin white coating on the vaginal tissues which is not essential for diagnosis, but is indicative.

Curing bacterial vaginosis symptoms is very wise. Not only will the condition cause you a degree of embarrassment and discomfort, if you leave BV untreated, it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility.

If you visit your doctor, the BV treatment which would be given is antibiotics. These will help to kill off the harmful bacteria so will give initial relief in most women. However, the problem is that antibiotics do not treat the root cause so if you are prone to repeated outbreaks, these will still happen.

Effective bacterial vaginosis treatment needs to address what is causing the condition in the first place, together with strategies to enhance the levels of good bacteria in the vagina, thus ensuring that harmful bacteria cannot survive. In addition, there are some good natural ways to kill off harmful bacteria and these should also be used.

Common causes of BV include smoking, overwashing, using perfumed products on the vagina, douching and a change of sexual partner. Avoiding these triggers would therefore be a good starting point.

Enhancing the levels of good bacteria to help in curing bacterial vaginosis symptoms quickly, can be done by taking probiotics or eating a good healthy diet.

There is an excellent, robust strategy which is completely guaranteed for curing bacterial vaginosis symptoms which has helped many thousands of women worldwide be completely free of BV for good. If you would like to see further details please visit Natural Home Remedies For Bacterial Vaginosis.

How I Am Curing Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis Naturally

by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Women's Health

When I got up this morning, my fears were confirmed. I had another outbreak of bacterial vaginosis. I could have kicked myself really as I knew it was self-inflicted. I had already worked out just what was causing my outbreaks but I still had it! I knew enough about curing recurrent bacterial vaginosis not to put myself through this again, but yet still did!

You see, what had happened was that I was bought a beautiful expensive hat box gift at Christmas which was filled with gorgeous toiletries of a brand which I absolutely loved. It had opulent face creams, expensive scrubs, an oil body spray, a hand butter and a wonderfully rich-smelling shower gel.

Over the holidays, I had loved using these products and two days ago, put the shower gel in my shower. Now a bit of background here….For a couple of years, on and off, I had suffered from the indignity of bacterial vaginosis. I had tried all sorts of creams and gels and even three courses of antibiotics, all to no avail. I just couldn\’t understand it, I kept myself clean, ate the right sorts of foods and didn\’t smoke.

Eventually, after much research, it turned out that my BV was actually caused by a combination of overwashing and, if I so much as used anything other than an unperfumed soap around my vagina. I eventually discovered just what was needed for curing recurrent bacterial vaginosis in my case and have stuck to it since. Well, almost since….Back to the shower gel…..Well, it was just too nice not to use it and I couldn\’t resist. I figured that something so expensive must have been thoroughly tested and could not harm me.

Just yesterday I used it in the shower, I put a big dollop on the sponge and washed myself all over, except \”down below\”. Being mindful of my sensitivity, I rinsed off most of the remainder and gently washed my vagina and felt a burning, tingling sensation immediately. As quickly as I could, I rinsed the area with water and the burning quickly subsided. I spent the rest of the day chastising myself for being so stupid, but hoping that I hadn\’t caused an outbreak of BV.

This morning when I got up, I could smell that horrible, familiar fishy odor and I knew I only had myself to blame!

At least I now know what I didn\’t before, that curing recurrent bacterial vaginosis naturally is not that difficult, once you know the steps that work for you.

One of the problems with BV is that the causes can vary from woman to woman. Very often, a woman might not even discover her specific trigger point (I was lucky, I did!) but although useful, it is not essential to do so. Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacterial in the vagina, and there is always something which causes it to happen. Common \”triggers\” include smoking, eating a poor diet, intercourse with a new partner, overwashing, douching and using perfumed products. Some women are also more prone around the time of the menopause.

For me, I know just what will work for treating my recurrent bacterial vaginosis. I shall avoid the temptation to wash several times a day (just to get rid of the smell!) and when I do wash, I won\’t sit in a bath, but will have a quick shower and only use plain soap. Probiotic yogurt works for me too-I will soak a tampon in it and leave it in my vagina for a couple of hours later today. I will also get out the probiotic capsules which are in my medicine cupboard and start taking those for a week. The last things I will do are to wear my old trusty cotton panties and use a thin panty pad to help soak up some of the discharge as I can change this at work a couple of times if the smell is becoming noticeable.

I am very careful about curing recurrent bacterial vaginosis promptly as repeated outbreaks can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility.

The strategies that work for me may well be useful for you if you also have a problem with BV. However, every woman is different and there are a full range of treatments you can adopt to ensure that you completely eradicate this condition.

And why am I writing about it today? Simply because I am cross with myself, and as someone who regularly writes articles about BV, I should know better!

Holistic Cures And Prevention For Bacterial Vaginosis

by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Women's Health

There are very good reasons why holistic cures and prevention work far better than conventional medication, such as antibiotics or over the counter creams and gels. To understand why this is the case, it is important to understand a little about the nature of bacterial vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis is a condition characterized by an overgrowth of harmful bacteria which causes the typical symptoms, including a watery gray or white discharge which has a pungent fishy smell, together with itching and burning around the vaginal area. There are thought to be many possible causes of bacterial vaginosis, including smoking, douching, using perfumed soaps, overwashing or a change in sexual partner. Indeed, in many women, it is impossible to even loosely identify one of the common causes. This is exactly why conventional treatment can be unsuccessful.

Antibiotics and over the counter creams and gels are typical treatments for bacterial vaginosis which you might get from your doctor or chemist. They may well give symptomatic relief. Antibiotics are generally effective at killing bacteria, and some of the over the counter treatments can be very soothing. However, killing the bacterial overgrowth and giving symptomatic relief are just two smaller elements in the overall steps which are necessary to eliminate BV altogether.

Conventional treatments take no account whatsoever of what might have caused your BV in the first place. For some women, unless they look at their own personal trigger points, they will never be free of this condition. Although it is not always possible to isolate a specific cause, the beauty of holistic cures and prevention for bacterial vaginosis is that they use a \”whole body\” approach, strengthening from the inside out to ensure that a condition like BV simply cannot thrive in a well-balanced, healthy body.

Main Elements Of Holistic Cures And Prevention For Bacterial Vaginosis

There are certain key principles when considering holistic cures and, indeed, the prevention of bacterial vaginosis.

* The easing of symptoms, should an outbreak occur

Symptoms can be eased usually by using simple methods. For example, using cold therapy around the inflamed vaginal tissues can really help. Killing harmful bacteria can also be achieved by adding a few drops of tea tree oil to a shallow bath.

* Strengthening the immune system

Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables can help, as can keeping generally healthy by taking exercise. You may also wish to consider taking a nutritional supplement.

* Increasing the quantity of beneficial bacteria in the vaginal and digestive tracts

Taking Lactobaccilus supplements can help with the digestive tract. To introduce beneficial bacteria into the vagina, soak a tampon in live probiotic yogurt and leave in the vagina for an hour.

* Taking steps to correct the pH level within the vagina

The pH level of a healthy vagina is slightly acidic. Whe BV is present, the pH level will be alkaline. Adding a couple of cups of mildly acidic cider vinegar to your bath is a good way to get things back to normal.

* Lifestyle changes to correct practices which are contributing to BV

There are many potential causes of BV, some of the most common ones are listed earlier in the article. You need to carefully consider which could be your personal trigger points and ensure that you stop any practices which might contribute to the problem.

Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment Over The Counter

by admin on Jan.30, 2010, under Women's Health

There are few conditions more embarrassing for a woman to discuss with others than bacterial vaginosis and there is no doubt at all that this is one condition that we want to get rid of as quickly as possible, whatever the cost! It is no wonder then, that we look for what we think will be the fastest alternative and we usually feel relieved when we have a product in our hands that might do the job.

There are various options for curing BV and bacterial vaginosis treatment over the counter is one option which you can consider. There is no doubt that some of these topical creams and lotions can give fast relief from some of the symptoms, but the question is, will they actually get rid of BV permanently?

To get rid of BV, there are various elements involved in successful treatment

* Killing off harmful bacteria
* Providing symptomatic relief
* Eliminating the root causes
* Introducing beneficial bacterial into the vagina
* Rebalancing the pH levels of the vagina

Systematically tackling each and every one of the above elements is the only guaranteed way to eliminate bacterial vaginosis for good, and although bacterial vaginosis treatment over the counter can be beneficial, there is no doubt that it does have limitations.

Without naming specific product names, I have looked at three of the bestselling products which claim to treat BV and listed below the relevant features/benefits from each:-

* Contains lactic acid to help neutralise odor
* Provides nutrients for good bacteria to help it grow
* Soothes
* Helps kill germs
* Contains antibacterials
* Contains mixes of mineral oils and plant extracts
* Includes Beeswax and Jojoba

I would stress that just one or two features belong to each product and this indicates that in my opinion, they are very much one-dimensional treatments. Topical preparations cannot deal with root causes which are lifestyle-induced (and BV often is) and to be effective, you need a multifaceted treatments which actually consists of a range of strategies, possibly including natural topical treatments along with other strategies at the same time.

If you would like to explore other options as well as bacterial vaginosis treatment over the counter, then please visit Natural Home Remedies For Bacterial Vaginosis. Here you will see a range of strategies which are guaranteed to cure BV quickly and permanently.

Easy Home Cures For Bacterial Vaginosis That Work

by admin on Jan.30, 2010, under Women's Health

Bacterial vaginosis is characterized by some rather unpleasant symptoms. If you have itching and burning of the delicate vaginal tissues, which is accompanied by a foul, fishy smelling discharge with a thin consistency and gray or white in color, then it is highly likely that you have BV. Although there are a number of elements to successful and permanent treatment, there are a number of easy home cures for bacterial vaginosis which can at least get you on the road to recovery.

BV is caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacteria in the vagina. Under normal circumstances, beneficial bacteria is the dominant type, with any harmful bacteria being minimizd by the good. When the balance is upset, the pH levels of the vagina become alkaline and this supports the growth of harmful bacteria. It is this harmful bacteria which causes the symptoms.

To cure BV completely, it is necessary to look at various elements and deal with them appropriately

* Tackling the root causes
* Killing harmful bacteria
* Reintroducing beneficial bacteria
* Rebalancing the pH levels
* Symptomatic relief

There are three very popular home cures for bacterial vaginosis, and whilst they do not deal with all of the above elements, they will certainly help and can form part of a good multifaceted treatment

1. Tea tree oil

This very powerful antibacterial oil is excellent at killing harmful bacteria. Add 12 drops to a shallow bath and soak for 20 minutes

2. Probiotic yogurt

Probiotics are rich in live, beneficial bacteria. Soak a tampon in live, natural yogurt and leave in the vagina for an hour. This will kickstart production of good bacteria

3. Cider vinegar

This mildly acidic liquid can help rebalance the pH levels. If you have BV, then the pH levels in your vagina will be alkaline. Sitting in a shallow bath with 3 cups of cider vinegar added can help to get you back in balance

If you would like to see more information about the above home cures for bacterial vaginosis and see how they can fit into a successful overall strategy, please visit Natural Home Remedies For Bacterial Vaginosis
