Cosmetic Surgery – How To Attain A Loan
by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Womens Interest
I\’m not one to go for a loan myself unless its a real necessity and I lack the finance at the time of need. In this case its understandable for sure that cosmetic surgery, for whatever reason, can be a most desperate need and thus it makes sense to discuss loans and what is available. It may be that you wish to remove an old and unsightly tattoo, or it may be that you have sagging skin that cannot be eradicated by dieting alone. Whatever your reasons, lets have a look at what sort of loan you can get.
Governmental help is on occasion available depending upon the type of operation you require but this is more the exception rather than the rule. Cosmetic surgery is most often seen as just that – cosmetic – therefore its viewed as something that is not totally necessary to improve or maintain the health of the individual. So, if you are unable to finance the procedure yourself what type of loan is available?
Anyhow, lets turn our attention to the types of loan available to us. There is the secured and the unsecured, its that simple. If your op is going to cost a lot of money then if possible go for the secured loan. This usually means you put your house up as collateral against the cost of the loan. In which case you will be offered often up to $75,000 (47,000) for a period of up to 25 years and the interest rates are going to be nicely competitive.
If you are a non-home owner then and you have nothing other than your home to offer up as security then the unsecured loan is for you. Often this means you can get between $1000 (625) and $25,000 (15,600) for a period of between 1 and 10 years. You will tend to find though that the interest rates are higher than those of the secured loan. It may be possible to negotiate this however.
No matter which loan you wish the process of application is fairly simple. First you need to decide upon who to apply to for the loan. There are a number of companies who specialize in cosmetic surgery loans but even those that do not may offer you favorable terms.
You can make your application online as there are many lenders willing to provide a loan for this type of use. Generally the application process will take a few hours and after this, if you are successful you will receive the money straight to your account.
Beauties: Mary Greenwell
by admin on Jan.30, 2010, under Beauty Tips
I have an amazing article in the January issue of Makeup Artist Magazine, an interview with the makeup artist Mary Greenwell. It's a Q&A, so the amazingness is all hers–it's one of the best interviews I've ever done. Greenwell was there at the beginning of the supermodel era, playing dress-up with Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, et al. Here she is, holding forth on red lipstick:
There's a time between the ages of about 34 and 60 when red lipstick is going to age you beyond belief. Before that you look funky, sexy, gorgeous, divine, wonderful, free, independent, individual–then suddenly you look like a hard bitch! Then around the age of 60, you don't care what anyone thinks, you don't care about giving the world your voluptuous, seductive face. Now you're bigger than that, you've gone further; you want to be individualistic and strong and fabulous. At that time, you can start wearing the red lipstick again, with your divine individual clothing, your Vivienne Westwood coat.
The whole interview is like that, trust me. It isn't online yet, so you'll have to hunt down a copy of Makeup Artist Magazine, which is a trade journal for professionals. It's also by professionals, who treat writers brilliantly–I have had a great experience with the stories I've done so far, and love my editor, Heather Wisner. In the twilight days of print media as we know it, that is something that is all too rare and worthy of mention.
Smith\’s Rosebud Salve

I picked up my tin of this from the pick n' mix at Sephora, and it is now my daily lipgloss of choice. It's an American classic I'd never heard of, being foreign, so you will no doubt be aware already of the details: $6, multi-purpose, everyone loves it. What I love about it is wearability with my very pale skin. Lipstick always looks like a Big Loud Deal on me, and and even fairly clear lipgloss always has to be very carefully balanced with whatever is happening with my eyes. Rosebud salve just gives little polish and prettiness, goes with any eye look, and also prevents dryness, which I am completely neurotic about. It's also the best thing I know for putting on your eyebrow brush.
So yeah, good stuff.
Psychological warfare in styling
by admin on Jan.30, 2010, under Beauty Tips
I'm not crazy about the way I look with my hair up, but sometimes it's the easiest option. Usually, it's just what what I do when I wash my face – throw it in a ponytail or ugly plastic clip.
For my own good, I've decided to make a concerted attempt to get over myself (in more ways than one). Wearing my hair up occasionally is part of that. I feel positively naked with my face so exposed, but I think ceasing to take something so trivial quite so seriously will be good for me.
Are there any styling issues which fill you with similar angst, or am I the only weirdo around here?
Mistaking Youth for Beauty
by admin on Jan.29, 2010, under Beauty Tips
The older I get, the more I realize youth is beautiful. My teenage daughter's friends can be slouched in their pajamas bottoms, shoveling cereal in their mouths as they stare at the TV, and it's like dripping honey in my eyes. We don't necessarily see this when we ourselves are young; we're hypercritical of our own looks and everyone else's. I had this driven home recently on Facebook, when I saw a twenty-year-old photo of a grade school friend's brother, a kid I'd always thought was homely. But he wasn't; he was beautiful.
Then again, sometimes we do the opposite, becoming dazzled by what we assume is the downy cheek when really, it's the hard wrought beauty all around us. I guest blogged as much today, at lovely-at-any-age Foodinista's site, she of the impeccable taste, and will you look at those shoes?
