CoverGirl Outlast Lip stain?
by admin on Feb.27, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Would you recommend it? I'm thinking about getting it in Flirty Nude. Any reviews/color recommendations?
Answer :————————
i absolutely recommend it! i have it in flirty nude actually and i LOVE it. it doesn't wipe off when you eat/drink/smoke/kiss/etc. the best part is, when you DO want the look of lipgloss, you can just put some clear gloss on top and it looks like lipgloss. you should definitely try it! you'll love it!
ps-i have no idea what that person is talking about when they said it will decay your lips.. that's bull, and not true in the slightest.
Lip gloss trouble? Help, please?

I have Lip Plumping clear gloss from Claire's. I can never get a good coat of lip gloss on my lips. Regardless of how much I use, the shine is barely noticeable. What can I do?
Answer :————————
you could try putting lip balm on first.
Color Variations of Pearls
by admin on Feb.27, 2010, under Womens Interest
Go to any jewelry store and peruse their pearl collections and it?s easy to see how many different colors of pearls there are. You can find pearls in white, cream, pink, purple and black with overtones of green, brown and blue. While personal preference is the basis for deciding which color pearl is best for you, it?s important to understand why pearls are the colors they are.
All pearls are made of nacre, or the substance oysters excrete to cover a nucleus in their tissue. The thickness of the nacre is the first thing that determines the color of the pearl. The thicker the nacre, the richer the color of the pearl. Environment does play a role in color variations, but the main factor in determining a pearl?s color is the type of mollusk that produced it. Different mollusks produce various colored pearls for different reasons.
Freshwater pearls are found in a wide variety of colors naturally. The colors are produced for many different reasons including environment, type of mussel and the location of the nucleus inserted into the tissue. Manganese is one element found only in freshwater mollusks and causes changes in the pearl?s color. The Manganese will darken freshwater pearls causing a silver grey effect making a beautiful and unique colored gemstone.
Some pearls? color, like that of the South Sea pearl, is based on the color of the oyster?s mantle tissue that it came from. The South Sea pearl is produced by the Pinctada maxima mollusk. There are two different variations of this mollusk ? the silver lip and the gold lip. The silver lip creates white, silver and rose colored pearls while the gold lip produces yellow, gold and champagne colored pearls. The gold colored South Sea pearls are very rare and possibly the most valuable
Tahitian pearls or black South Sea pearls have a rich, dark coloration. Tahitian pearls are produced by the Pinctada margaritifer mollusk. This mollusk is also known as the black lip oyster. The mantle of the black lip oyster is very dark which causes the pearls it produces to be black in color. Not only is the color of the mantle tissue a factor in what color the pearl will be but it also depends on the color of the donor tissue grafted into the oyster. Different donor tissues can cause the pearl to have lavender, green, blue and ?peacock? overtones. These types of pearls are highly prized for their luster and iridescence.
Even though cultured and natural pearls come in a wide variety of colors, pearls are sometimes dyed. A lot of times, freshwater and akoya pearls are dyed dark colors to give them the appearance of a Tahitian or South Sea pearl. The dyes are organic and don?t harm the stone but it is important to be aware of this when shopping for pearls. If the color of a pearl looks too beautiful to be true, it may be! A dyed pearl can be spotted by looking down the drill hole with a magnifier. The color of Tahitian pearls is even tampered with. Sometimes heat is used to alter their color and achieve a chocolate color which has become very popular in the jewelry world.

Will Vaseline harden for my lip balm?
by admin on Feb.25, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
I just made two lip balms. They both have cream honey (which I melted and I'm not sure if it will harden again), vanilla extract, petroleum jelly and coconut oil as a base. One of them has brown sugar in it (for a lip scrub), and the other has cocoa in it (for flavour). I put them in the freezer and I'm not sure if they will harden and stay hardened at room temperature after being out of the freezer? I was just experimenting and I'm planning on finding some essential oils to add and buying plain tea lights as wax? I know wax will harden, and I have other tea lights, but they're scented. Will those be okay to use? It's Gold Canyon tea lights and I don't know what chemicals they use or if I will react to any of the scents. I'm not allergic to anything. Please answer all my questions? (: Thanks in advance!
Answer :————————
I don't think using tea lights is a good idea at all. They are a petroleum based wax and not good to be ingested and therefore for lip balm it is important that you use bees wax
vaseline is also petroleum based but it is a filtered derivative. Again, despite its popularity there is a school of thought that it is not ideal. Although it will undoubtedly firm when frozen it will not actually freeze and will return to its normal state at room temperature.
Equally it is not a good idea to use essential oils on lips either as they are often toxic and contra indicated for internal use.
If you want cocoa/chocolate flavour use shea butter
in fact just use this site or a similar one and be safe

How to Chose the Right Shade of Lipstick
by admin on Feb.23, 2010, under Womens Interest
Choosing the right lipstick is like choosing a great outfit. You want it to be stylish, yet flattering. But to most women, lipstick is a mystery. They can spend an hour in the make up aisle dabbing shades of lipstick on the back of their hand, trying to find their perfect match, often with little success. And if you are lucky enough to have found it, you tend to stick with it, but what if your favorite lipstick quits being manufactured or your local drug store quits carrying it? Well, don?t worry; here are a few fail proof tips for choosing that perfect shade.
1.) The best lip color for you will be one or two shades darker than your natural lip color. If you buy your lipstick at a department store, you can apply the lipstick to one lip and see how it looks, but if you like to buy your lipstick from a drugstore like Wal mart or Walgreens, then you should just trust the shade that is shown on the packaging. You can hold the sample of the shade up to your lips in a mirror and see if it?s the right shade.
2.) If you trust the color on the packaging or if your purchase from the department store was rushed, and you get home and you hate the lipstick you purchased. Don?t just throw it away! You can actually create a great lip color, by mixing different lipsticks together. You can use a lipstick brush to apply a coat of the one you don?t like and then add a coat of a different color that is more accurate. Just blend and mix until you achieve a color that looks great on you.
3.) What about red? If you are going for a more dramatic look and you want that great red lip that everyone is wearing. You can choose a great red, once again, based on your shin tone. If your skin tone is pinkish, you should choose a cherry colored red. If you have olive toned skin, you should choose a brighter, more vibrant red. And if you skin in darker, than deep reds are the ones for you. Another great tip for wearing red lipstick is to go lighter on the rest of your make up. If your going to wear a dramatic lipstick, then you should draw the attention to your lips and wear lighter less dramatic eye make up and blushes.
4.) You should NEVER match your lipstick to your outfit. A great lipstick that is the perfect shade will look great on you, no matter what clothes you have on.
5.) The size of your lip also matters. If you have larger lips, then muted shades that have tones of brown or purple look best, but if you have been blessed with thinner lips, then you should choose lighter, fresher colors that have tones of pinks or gold.
Every woman?s lipstick needs are different, so you should always look at your skin tone, to help guide you when choosing the right shade. A great tip came from the amazing Bobbi Brown, If I had to teach someone just one thing about lip color it would be this: Find a lipstick that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no makeup. This is a fabulous tip, from a fabulous make up artist. You should take this advice, and the above great tips with you next time your shopping for that great shade!
Nude lip gloss or nude lip stick?!?
by admin on Feb.21, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
I've been trying to find any nude lip stick or glosses that'd make my lip – nude. lol.
But I am on a budget and I know there are some great ones at Sephora,
but they're pretty pricey.
I know of the Revlon Nude Lipstick,
but not sure if I should get that?
Does anyone know any good price nude lip stick or lip gloss that isn't pricey, but works good?
Links or names will do just fine. Thanks!
Answer :————————
I love Revlon's lipsticks, but if you are talking about the Revlon "Nude Attitude lipstick," it kind of depends on your tastes.
That particular lipstick is the matte formula, so there is going to be absolutely no gloss or shine to the finish. Also, you have to make sure your lips are completely moisturized and unchapped before you use a matte lipstick, because the matte formula is going to show any cracks or peeling in your lips and amplify it x10.
I recommend any nude colors from Revlon or L'Oreal's Color Riche line. I think it best to drop by a drugstore/beauty supply and just browse the nude colors to find one you like. Online pictures of lipsticks don't always show the color faithfully.
Is there a lip gloss that will not leave that white film on your lips?
by admin on Feb.21, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
I have tried a few and they all do this.I don't want to pay too much for one either.I would like one that has a brownish tone.Anyone know of any?
Answer :————————
I always had that problem with lip gloss. I tried all different kinds and textures and colors but i could never be satisfied, so i started putting on chap stick regularly instead. It makes your lips look so natural and gives them shine and dont make them dry and cracked and leave yucky residue. Just find one that works best for you. Theyre so cheap so you wont have to spend a lot of money to find that out. Just my advice, some people like this idea and some dont but i gave up on lip gloss a long time ago.
