Nail Polish: How to make it last long and chip resistant?
by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
It's not that I like painting my nails so much as that I don't want my nails to chip! My job requires that I use my hands a lot so my nails end up chipping from grabbing stuff too fast. Someone I work with gets manicures and she said that she asks for a gel coat when she gets her nails done and nails look way thick.
So, I bought some but I don't know the whole layering part? Can someone give me some nail painting advice?
Does the gel coat go on first or last? How many layers of it should I paint? Do I need to put a top coat on?
Also, someone said I should buy biosculpture nail polish, what do you think?

I have the same problem and totally understand how you feel. The real key to long lasting nail polish is letting each layer dry before painting the next.
Your first coat should be a base coat. The base coat can be very expensive but for your nails to really last a long time, it's okay to go overboard on this.
Your next two coats of nail polish will be your color. Paint a very thin layor of color and let it dry for about 15 minutes. After fifteen minutes you can paint the second layer.
The top coat goes on last. After painting all four layers of nail polish let your nails sit for about 15 minutes before really using your hands.
If you decide to use a gel coat, it should go on last. Some people do use gel coats and love them others think that they make their nails feel heavy and over done. Using the gel coat is your chose but it isn't required.
Biosculpture nail polish really isn't very different at all from regular nail polish except for the fact that it tends to be a little big more flexible. This really might seem like it will solve your problems but in the end it really doesn't make that big of a difference in your nails.
Hope I Helped!!!!
Which nail varnish colour would suit me best?
by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
After years of biting my nails, I now have lovely long nails. Which nail varnish colours go best with fair skin and blonde hair?
Answer :————————
You are one of those lucky people who have the ablility to use pretty much anything. I have a friend who has very pale skin and blonde hair and EVERY color looks great on her. From light green to deep burgandy to black and then of course pinks and reds. Everything i have ever seen her wear has been AWESOME! So just pick your fav, and roll with it!

Yeast is everywhere in our bodies particularly in our mouths, abdomen, under arms, nail beds or any part of our body that has skin folds. For women, yeast can usually be found under the breasts and the vagina. However, if the yeast in our bodies reach more than the normal levels, that
Recessionista find: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail varnish
by admin on Jan.29, 2010, under Beauty Tips
Never one to miss a bargain, I had to check out Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail varnish after reading Lauren Luke's recommendation of it in Black Out. There are few things worse than cheapo nail varnish, but cheapo black nail varnish is generally the absoute worst- just streaks of see-through grey striping your nails in random layers, as if you just spent the entire day potting plants with pritt-stick on your fingernails. No wonder you only paid a dollar, when it takes an entire pot to produce a decent colour, in seventy-eight coats, right? But Lauren says that Black Out required just one coat! This sounded like the sort of miracle every Recessionista dreams of- but was it really true?
Well, not quite- you really need two coats to get it deep and smooth enough to look good. However, I have never known a nail varnish that was OK with only one coat, and these are two nice thick shiny coats, which is something you don't expect to find for a couple of dollars in Target. Next up was the dark maroon Chanel Vamp copy, called Flirt. Two coats again, but honestly, I could not tell it apart from my much-loved, long-used Vamp. Flirt felt exactly the same to put on, and looks exactly the same dry. (And it's just as hard to get off.) But it costs about a tenth of the price. Back in Target, I picked up another 4 pots in different colours, and tried to get the Black Out for my teenaged daughter. It was sold out already, but there was one last pot of Flirt, so she will have to make to do. You have been warned.
