What is a face powder that makes your skin orange?
by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Yes, orange.
As well foundation.
Answer :————————
you probibly have yellow and green undertones, this only shows in harsh lighting such as flourescent, it will make your face patch (i know for a fact) even if it is rubbed in really well (i have tried numurousely and it still looks horrible and orangey/patchy) you should get the colour foundation a few tones up from your skin tone (not the under tones) this will cover them while hiding blemishes ect without making you look orange…do not use orange.
Can you reccomend me a drug store foundation, concealer and powder?
by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Ok so i want a truely FLAWLESS skin finish, but without looking cakey.
if you could please reccomend a foundation with a medium coverage that blends well, a concealer with a full coverage which also blends easily, and a powder with medium coverage that doesn't look cakey.
must follow this criteria though :
- oil free
- must be able to purchase from Shoppers Drug Mart
thanks so much for your time !

Revlon colorstay is a really good foundation, Its comparable to mac studio fix and is really good, uhm for concealer I reccomend Maybelline mineral concealer, not only does it cover up blemishes but its good for ur skin and a good powder is covergirl (anone) It depens on what kind of powder you what you want. Idk if its at Shoppers Drug but i think it should be available at most drugstores so it should be there… Hope I helped
Shine control HELP ….? Mac blot powder on mineral powder.. ?
by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Okay so I use BareMinerals Matte foundation, and its really good at mattefying, but a few hours later, around my t zone you can see the shine and it starts getting super oily. Like is I touch it the foundation will come off and I can feel the oil….gross I know. I put on more foundation to cover it up, but it starts looking cakey, and I can still fell the oil….
What can I do to prevent this ?
Can I use MAC blot powder or would it be stupid, because powder on powder…?
Answer :————————
mac has this oil controlling face lotion. use that under the powder, and if for some reason you have to repowder use oil blotting sheets first. if you're in public use toilet seat covers. they work! and make sure you apply lemon juice (PURE) on your face twice a week after washing your face. and leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse off. it should decrease oil production(:
What is shimmer powder used as?
by admin on Mar.02, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
I have a makeup kit and it included a few containers of shimmer powder. It's pretty but I have no idea how to use it. Is it blush? Eyeshadow? How do I use it? How do I apply it?
Thanks!
Answer :————————
anywhere!!!! Dust it on your face or neck/chest for an all over shimmer. Use a fan brush or a puffy blush brush.
Loreal Bare Naturale VS Maybelline Mineral Powder?
by admin on Mar.02, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
I have been deciding back and forth between these two choices.
How much does each one cost?
Which one has more product in grams?
Which one will cover light acne and redness?
Is the Loreal package too big for a makeup bag?
ANY tips at all will be very appreciated.
Also what do you think about:
L'oreal True Match Powder
Rimmel Lasting Foundation
Which ones are worth my money? THANK YOU SOO MUCH(:
Answer :————————
I'm guessing you just want the information on the foundation powders.
L'Oreal Bare Naturale: Walmart actually sells it now and it's $13.48 Other places it's $15.25
Maybelline Mineral Powder: Walmart has it for $7.94 while every where else it's $8.29
L'Oreal Bare Naturale, it has about 10g in the container compared to Maybelline Mineral Powder's 8g
Actually a makeup artist would tell you not to use any drug store brands such as Maybelline and L'Oreal for acne issues as they contain oxychloride which is a metal not a mineral. That can actually cause more break outs, and it's actually better to use Organic powders such as Faerie Organic Minerals. However, as far as covering the redness and acne, both work equally as well.
No actually L'Oreal Bare naturale will fit in a make up bag. my cousin actually complained she thought it was too small compared to the one she was use to.
I've heard that the L'Oreal True Match Powder tends to not match color tone wise with the foundation, but that's easily fixed by figuring how off it is and making the adjustment with another shade. Other than that, I've only heard good things about it. But, I've never actually tried it.
Rimmel Lasting Foundation gets bad reviews in all the make up and beauty sites I visit, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone based on that. They say it has a plasticy texture to it and looks really unnatural
Which pressed powder is good?
by admin on Feb.26, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
i love pressed powders. for me they are less messy and i like that way you can take them everywhere. now i need one that will give some coverage like a foundation. so what are some pressed powders that give good coverage and are pretty cheap and you can find them at like walmart or Target ect. and i would like it to give a matte look. but it doesn't have to be matte. and it cant CAN NOT be a pressed powder that goes over your foundation to make it stay, like a mineral veil. i want the pressed pressed powder to BE my foundation! so what are some good ones that are cheap and you can find at drug stores?
Answer :————————
My favourite is Cornsilk, Natural Matte, by Sally Hansen. I find it at my local Walmart and also at my local Ulta. The product is being fazed out under the Cornsilk brand. Sally Hansen is renaming it "Sally Hansen Natural Beauty". But you might still find the original Cornsilk in the stores.

How to put on powder the right way?! HELP!?
by admin on Feb.20, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Okay so I wear a powder for my face. My skin is oily with a few blemishes but not bad at all.
When the lady at Sephora or somewhere else puts it on, it looks SO good, like flawless!
But whenever I put it on, it looks so BAD and doesn't coverup, yet cakey!!
I put on moisturizer AND primer, and it still doesn't work. It looks so bad.
What am I doing wrong?
Help me out please, thanks!!!
Answer :————————
i think you should ask the lady at Sephora on how did she do that flawless powder on your face.
if not, after applying moisturizer let it set or dry..maybe for 2-5 minutes just to make it look smooth or flawless. then, you may use concealer for your blemishes if you want. followed by the foundation(if you're using one– i prefer mineral foundation of Loreal, for your skin type) ..when applying powder just dab it with your sponge don't rub. if you're using brush, brush it upwards to make sure that it won't clog your pores. just apply gently and not so many layers of powder.
i hope i helped you though.
What's the difference between powder foundation and pressed powder?
by admin on Feb.02, 2010, under Makeup Q & A
Answer :————————
Pressed powder refers to powder for oil-control and it's also used for setting makeup. It has little pigmentation (usually translucent, but some have a little pigmentation to blend better with skin color) and are sort of the 'cake' version of loose powder (which is also used to control shine and to set makeup). So it is basically an alternative to blotting sheets and also a more travel-friendly form of loose powder (if loose powder spills it would cause a huge mess).
Powder foundation meanwhile refers to base makeup. This means it has more pigmentation and it's for evening out skintone. They may look similar to pressed powders sometimes but you can tell it's a foundation because of the higher pigmentation. There are several types of powder foundation like 2 way cake, mineral foundation etc. (not to confuse you but it is also ok to use powder foundation to set makeup but it's not used for shine-control)
So when you apply powder foundation, you're going to see a difference to your skintone – maybe less redness or minor blemishes get covered up.With pressed powder it sinks into your skin and gives a shine-free look without altering your skin blemishes too much.
I need a powder with no color to get rid of shine regular translucent powder has a reflective on dark skin?
