What's the difference between a pearl finish, metallic finish, and satin finish?

So I get that a matte finish means it's "flat" with no shimmer, and shimmer finish is obviously kinda sparkly… But what about pearl, metallic, and satin? Are those all the same? Are they slightly shimmery? Extremely shimmery? Help?! Thanks

What's the use of using clear lip liner for?

Soon I'm going to buy a lot of lipsticks from MAC, and we all know how bright they are. I already own one, which is "Russian Red". I'm wondering if using a clear lip liner will work in keeping them looking nice, or should I use a nude lip liner and then the lipstick?
